Our Story
Our Story: La Malinche Coffee & Tea House La Malinche Coffee & Tea House was born from a beautiful dream. In 2021, Marlene Torres, a DACA recipient, poured her heart and soul into opening this cafe. Together with her husband, Tato, she created a space filled with warmth, community, and the delicious aroma of coffee. They built a legacy that was, and remains, a testament to their passion. When Yvette Valdez and Hector Aguirre first walked into La Malinche, it wasn’t just a cafe—it felt like destiny. The moment they met Marlene and Tato, there was an instant, unspoken connection. It was clear that this was more than a business transaction; it was a passing of the torch. For Marlene and Tato, it was a gut-wrenching decision to sell due to health issues, but they saw something in Yvette and Hector. They knew their dream would be safe with them. Because of that special bond, they made a unique concession, making it possible for Yvette and Hector to purchase the cafe and keep its doors open. As the new owners, we are committed to honoring the spirit of La Malinche. We invite you to join us and enjoy our signature offerings, from delicious paninis and chilaquiles to our popular artisanal fruit teas and traditional café de olla. We’re more than just a coffee shop; we’re a house filled with rich history, deep-rooted connections, and a whole lot of love.
